Bronze Expeditions
The Bronze training expeditions took place in the Trossachs. The base camp was situated in an idyllic spot on the shores of Loch Achray. Here the pupils were able to develop their camp craft skills and discover the culinary delights of campsite cooking. The area around the Trossachs is ideal for navigation training with a wide variety of terrain.

The Bronze assessed expeditions were carried out on the Ochil Hills; a challenging but safe environment which gives the pupils a real sense of adventure and develops their self-reliance and
confidence. Starting in Tillicoultry they made their way to Ben Cleuch, at 721m, the highest point in the Ochils, and on to the campsite area by the River Devon. The second day of the assessed expedition involves the group navigating their way back to school. All our Bronze assessments were successful.

Silver Expeditions
The three-day practice expeditions took place in the Highlands with the girls group training in the Mamores and the boys group in the Gray Corries. Everyone enjoyed their experience in these remote wild country areas and agreed that many valuable lessons were learned.

The Silver assessed expeditions were organised on the Isle of Arran in the Firth of Clyde. The girls group carried out a beach study as part of their exploration in the north and in the south; the boys made a survey of a number of archeological sites, some as old as 5,000 years. All our Silver assessments were successful.

This Summer our Silver and Gold assessed expeditions will take place on Dartmoor which will be the first expeditions we have run out of Scotland.
