helped by good weather. In the autumn, two weekends were set aside for personal survival training and testing (recruit platoon), again at Barry Budden. All cadets passed the weekends and thus were nearly able to complete their APC training, most having just shooting and first aid left to pass.
The Highland Tactical Team performed admirably in the Autumn Competition and came second in the CCF teams, an excellent achievement and a credit to the level of training carried out by the senior NCOs.
Several exercises planned for the Spring Term had to be cancelled as did the tri-service Adventurous Training Camp at Easter. Unfortunately, these cancellations followed a Field Day postponed because of heavy snow.
Finally, many thanks to the officers and cadet NCO's who have helped to implement army training throughout the year.

ROYAL NAVAL SECTION
Last Summer the emphasis was on outdoor
pursuits with sailing, windsurfing, canoeing, powerboating, hillwalking and rockclimbing and our aim is to repeat such a blend this Summer term.
Our Joint Services Field Day on the 11th October was very enjoyable. The weather was kind to us; although most of the country had rain we had a clear, dry, mild day. It was an interesting walk round Loch Katrine with superb scenery and information points throughout the walk denoting points of interest, history and wildlife.
In the mid term holiday Lt Scott (Army), Cpt Onslow (Army), Lt Borking (RN) and myself went on a seven day Alpine Ski Leader course. This qualification will give us more flexibility in running our annual CCF ski camp. It will also allow use to take more cadets and assess and award them BASA star awards up to four star.
On the 14th of March I attended a meeting in Edinburgh, at which all the commanding

officers of RN CCF sections in Scotland were briefed on proposed changes to the training syllabus. They simplify the existing syllabus and update it to be more in tune with the needs of cadets today, with 50% of the syllabus devoted to outdoor pursuits.
After 4 years as our Area Instructor CPO PT Doug Wylie has moved on. He recently passed his AIB and is taking up a post onboard HMS Invincible, one of the Royal Nay's aircraft carriers. We would all like to wish Doug all the best for the future and thanks for all his help over the years. Doug's relief is also a physical training instructor. We are delighted to welcome CPO PT Derek Nordon as our new Al and I am sure he will be as helpful as Doug.
Looking to the future our next Field Day will be our water sports day on Loch Lomond in June. We also have our bi-annual inspection this year in November. It is especially important for the naval section because it is the turn of the Royal Navy to provide the inspecting officer.
