Not everyone, perhaps, fully realises what a harassing and continuously demanding job Administrative Officer is, since, for most of the School community, it is carried out inconspicuously "behind the scenes". We shall remember the "AO" kindly and gratefully for many reasons but perhaps most of all for the unfailing courtesy and good humour with which he received every request or demand, however difficult or awkward it might be, and from whatever source. We wish him and his wife Jo a happy retirement together and may he soon be fully restored to health. From the kitchen has departed a very old member of the staff, Mr Girvan, who has played his full part for 20 years in feeding boys and staff and who will also be well remembered for, (is it), seventeen consecutive appearances at Aviemore Hill Walking Camp. We are, happily, retaining contact with the Girvan family through Mrs Girvan, who is remaining on the staff of the School although (we hasten to add) she has of course moved house to Stirling with Mr Girvan. Less happily we have lost Mrs Walters, in charge of the Dining Hall Staff, who has served the School most devotedly for fifteen years, but has now been compelled to resign through ill health. We wish her a quick recovery. To all these members of the School Staff, Headmaster, Senior members of the academic staff, junior Masters, and administrative staff we express our good wishes and sincere thanks. On such depends the School, and the careers and welfare of all who pass through it.
